Rigger Level 1

This rigger training course provides qualification training with written and practical evaluations that satisfy ASME B30.5 qualified-rigger elements. Employers use these results—together with experience—to designate riggers as qualified for limited, routine lifting tasks performed under defined conditions. For lifts involving greater complexity, judgment, or responsibility, most employers require Rigger Level 2 training.

Level 1 riggers handle routine, repetitive lifts using provided load weights, standard hitches, and stable, predictable conditions, typically with oversight. Level 2 riggers take on more complex lifts—such as off-center loads, non-standard hitches, or tight clearances—and may need to estimate weights, calculate sling tensions, and plan non-routine lifts.

Yes. This rigger training course supports OSHA 1926 Subpart CC qualified-rigger requirements and 1910.184 (slings), and aligns with ASME standards for rigging gear, hitches, and operating practices. Written and practical evaluations included in this course meet ASME’s qualified-rigger exam elements. Employers are responsible for determining whether this level of qualification is appropriate for the scope of work being performed.

No. Signalperson is a separate qualification, but many employers bundle Signalperson, Rigger Level 1, and Rigging Gear Inspection into the same session. Bundling improves safety by ensuring crews train together, and practice as a team.

Crane Tech provides Rigger Level 1 training and written/practical evaluations that support an employer’s qualification decision. Evaluation results are valid for two (2) years. Employers must require re-evaluation sooner if unsafe rigging practices are observed or if lift conditions, load characteristics, or job scope change.
